I very much enjoyed my trip to Costa Rica with Travendly. While we did a lot of activities, it was never too tiring or exhausting to keep up with all the fun and action that was going on. Travendly knows where to go and see, what do do, and whom to do it with! All in all, the group on my trip and the experience was a fun and memorable one. This was my first group trip and I was pleasantly surprised it turned out so well.
It's a lucky feeling to stumble upon even one person who takes a chance on you. Travendly, took a chance providing each of us with an incredible guided tour of an interesting country, and initiating 8 remarkable relationships. An old Icelandic adage (with many meanings) is: "One man's tale is but half a tale." Because of Travendly, we have each other to help improve our story over the next several months or years. Thank you!
I just returned from the Peru trip and can't rave about it enough!! I was at first nervous to travel solo but the group was amazing as was the schedule. We are already planning our next trip together and our NYC outings. Thanks for a great experience!
Go with Travendly for your next adventure! Group travel can be tricky, but Jon put together a fun and like-minded group of strangers and it turned into an amazing vacation with a bunch of new friends. The itinerary was packed with a great mix of activities and our local guide was, in my opinion, top notch! I look forward to keeping in touch with my travel buddies and planning my next Travendly trip.
My wife and I traveled to Cuba for 9-days (8 day trip+ Extra day) over Christmas and New Year 2016. I reached out to the guys at Travendly before applying for the trip because of our permanent resident status. The documentation wasn’t clear on the process for non-US citizens. Jon replied back and confirmed we’re good to go and every interaction with Jon from that point was smooth! He was easy going and answered all our questions within a few minutes and most importantly he answered every question patiently, imagine doing this for every single person over and over! We got a detailed travel document, what to pack/expect in Cuba and travel itinerary.
As for the trip itself, our tour lead was Matt a.k.a Matteo. First thing to know about Cuba is - expect the unexpected! I expected some confusion at the airport, but long story short, if Matt wasn’t at the airport we would’ve been looking for our travel group for hours and we still wouldn’t have found them. Matt was waiting at the airport for over 4 hours with a Travendly sign and a smile. That first interaction set the tone for rest of our trip. Every step of the way Matt made it look effortless. He looked after a rather energetic group of travelers with ease, which I’m sure was exhausting. One of the last nights, he slept on a hammock on the roof of our casa since one of the guys got locked out. He truly made a difference to the trip and managed to keep things sane.
My wife and I have traveled with friends and this was our first experience with a travel group and I have to say Travendly made it memorable. I have no reservations in recommending them in future. Give it a shot, you will come back with wonderful memories and knowing more people than you did.
I just returned from the 9 day (8 day with bonus day) to Cuba and I'm still thinking about all the amazing things we were able to do and the even more amazing people I was able to experience it with! When I travel I typically enjoy to plan my own trips, but going to a country like Cuba is more challenging so I was happy to book through Travendly. From start to finish I was very impressed with the customer service Jon and the team offered. Any questions were immediately answered and the pre-trip prep information was so thorough and had covered all topics i didn't even know I needed.
The trip to Cuba was incredibly interesting and I loved every moment of it. Our tour guide Matt was very accommodating and did a great job being a friendly face but guiding us as well. I also loved our itinerary. I felt it was packed with a lot of interesting activities which really gave us a taste of life in Cuba. Yaniet, our Cuban tour guide, was also very knowledgable and we all loved hanging out with her.
Overall, I had a very positive experience with Travendly and would highly recommend travelers who want to have the best vacation ever but don't want to plan it themselves, while making incredible new friends, to look no further 🙂
Traveling to Cuba with Travendly exceeded my expectations. Even though I decided to book my vacation last minute, Jon and Matt made it an easy process and I am so grateful I went with them. The amount of things you do and the places you see in the time allotted is incredible - way more than I would have ever done on my own. I would highly recommend to my friends, family, and anyone that is on edge for traveling by themselves! Although you might travel there alone, you will come back home with long lasting friendships.
The Peru trip was truly amazing. The itinerary included all of the main tourist attractions and also included free time to shop and explore other attractions. What made the trip even more special were the people -- everyone was nice, friendly, generous and caring. I am glad I chose to travel with Travendly on this trip and am looking forward to going on another trip with them again soon!
If you're looking for an unforgettable adventure, this is absolutely the trip you want to be on. Every single day is packed with amazing learning experiences and beautiful sightseeing. Travendly partners with a local tour company, so not only do you have an American tour guide with you (major shout out to Matt for being such a great tour guide! Wouldn't have been the same without you!), but you have a native Cuban tour guide teaching you about the country's history and sharing his or her personal experiences growing up in a way so different to how we grew up. Yenet, our Cuban tour guide, definitely became a friend and even spent our last night in the city exploring with us, when she didn't even have to! On this trip, you get to experience Cuba as close to actual Cuban living as possible -- staying in the casas, sharing meals with, and learning from, your Cuban tour guide, taking cooking classes from a family puts a really personalized and authentic spin on the trip. There is so much activity packed into the trip that I can't even begin to describe it all, but suffice it to say this is one of the best experiences I have ever had and I'm looking forward to continuing to travel with the Travendly family!
Trip to Cuba was an unbelievable experience that I will never forget. Travendly did an amazing job planning everything to perfection. I loved that we really got to experience Cuban culture and to bond with Cubans who were with us most days during our time there. I thoroughly enjoyed all the excursions and restaurants and have already recommended this trip to friends and family.
Just returned from the May '16 Peru trip and had such a phenomenal time. In addition to experiencing many of the beautiful sights the Sacred Valley has to offer, we had a great group and lots of laughs. I'm so glad that I chose Travendly for this trip since all of people live close by and some of us have already planned to meet up again. It's a great format to see the world and meet new friends. Jon was a fantastic leader and the itinerary had the perfect balance of activities (hiking, sightseeing, ATVing, EATING!) and down time (for shopping and massages, etc.). I would definitely use Travendly for my next adventure.
Thank you Travendly for an amazing once-in-a lifetime experience in Cuba! The trip was well organized and allowed our tight group to interact with the local community in an unforgettable way. Cuba's rich history and culture came alive in our visits to the tobacco farm, salsa and cooking classes and tours of "Old Havana". It was a blast sharing this journey with my new NYC friends!
I recently took a trip to Iceland with Travendly it was simply, amazing. Jon the guide and owner made it a fantastic, fun-filled trip. Everyday was set up for us - the sights, the food, etc. We saw the Golden Circle, beautiful sights in the North and South. In 4 and half days we saw more than probably most people see over a week - there were waterfalls, secret lagoons, the blue lagoon, mountains, volcano beaches, volcanos and we even did a Glacier Hike which turned out to be the highlight of the trip.
As for accommodations, we had an amazing 3 story house in Reykavik which even had a hot tub/sauna on the first floor. It was beautiful and comfortable - a great place to come back to after each day of the trip.
If you want to see Iceland, simply go on this trip. I can guarantee an amazing time, but I can't guarantee that you'll see Bjork (we did!).
Travendly is a great concept - you know everyone on your trip is from your home city and around your age. We had a fantastic group of 10 people for our trip to Cuba and have already planned our reunion dinner. I have already recommended the tour to friends.
A visit to Peru was on my bucket list, and I don't think there is an adjective out there to describe how amazing the whole experience was. From the hikes in the Sacred Valley to Machu Picchu, and the winding alleys and beautiful cathedrals of Cusco - everyday was perfect. Our group was fun (a little Llama/ Alpaca obsessed but that's all good!) and gelled in together very well. It's been a day since we got back to New York and I'm already planning my next trip with Travendly!
I was looking for a unique and exciting travel experience with fellow New Yorkers when I came across Travendly. Jon did an great job planning a fantastic itinerary in Iceland! We saw many amazing sites and the flexible yet organized structure worked really well. The group was also super nice and we had a great time bonding during all the activities and down time in the house. I would definitely recommend this to my friends and I hope to do another Travendly trip myself!
A big bonus about a trip with Travendly is that you're very well prepared in advance. We got several documents from Jon with very important information before the trip (make sure you read those!), and even had an orientation meeting a few weeks before going, where he made sure that all of our questions and concerns were addressed. The intention was to have minimum surprises with maximum enjoyment, and I definitely appreciated all the thoughtful advice when we got to Cuba. It was also a great idea to meet the group before the trip, so we just reconnected when we got to Havana and were ready for our adventures together!
What most surprised me was the amount of things we did and saw in the short period of time we were in Cuba. The itinerary was very well planned and well packed, with a lot of variety, and a chance to get to know the essentials of the place (and to maybe come back again!). We walked a ton around Havana and really got the feel of the city, went for a ride in those gorgeous classic cars, took a trip to an organic cigar farm (if you're planning on having a cigar, this is the one you should try!), had a cooking class (and a mojito-making class!), a salsa lesson, heard live music and saw local artists' work, and went out at night to fun places (make sure you get to Fabrica de Arte Cubano--a three story warehouse with actual art exhibitions, live music, drinks, and a very cool vibe). Our great local guide, Saul, answered all our many questions about life in this beautiful country, and was a true connector to the people and the culture, guiding us around during the day, and suggesting great places to go (and going with us!) at night. Our wonderful trip host Liliana made sure that we always knew what was going on, and adjusted the itinerary to best accommodate everything that we wanted to do and see, while still keeping us on track.
I really enjoyed this trip, will definitely be keeping in touch with many people from our group, and would highly recommend anyone who wants to experience Cuba to go with Travendly!
Going to Cuba with Travendly was a truly unforgettable experience. From learning about Cuba’s tumultuous past and present, to meeting with local artists, farmers and musicians, we were truly immersed in every aspect of Cuba’s unique culture. Everything was planned to a t, allowing us to just really relax and take in the wonderful sensory overload that is Cuba!
I did not have much knowledge about 21st Century Cuba and had forgotten much of what I learned about its history. The tour guide was amazing; knowledgable, articulate, personable. Our American guide was excellent. It was a great experience having had stayed in the casa (house) instead of a hotel. You really get to experience Cuba in the eyes of Cubans and interact with the people as well. Everything was very well organized and the people in the group were amazing! Best trip hands down!
I had a fantastic time on my Iceland trip. I can truly say I walked away with not only with a fabulous trip but with new friends in NYC. It was something completely out of the box and I loved every minute of it. I would do it again in a heartbeat, I would just make sure I brought warmer socks.
I am really thankful to Travendly for the amazing opportunity to go to Cuba. As a result of great planning, we were able to interact with the local community and culture in a very unique way at a pivotal point in the country's history. Organizing a trip like this independently in a country without internet would be very difficult and time consuming. Travendly took the focus off details and allowed me to fully enjoy the experience.
I had been trying to figure out how to get to Cuba on my own for years before discovering Travendly. I had never done group travel before and really didn’t plan to ever travel that way. Liking their Cuba itinerary and seeing that the trip would be with fellow New Yorkers, I decided to give Travendly a try. I'm so glad I did! The trip was truly awesome. From cooking lessons to salsa classes to local artists to tobacco farms, I have never been so immersed in a culture before. It was a great way to see Cuba and get a feel for the country and their people. Everything was well organized. I didn’t have to think of a thing! I could just enjoy myself and take everything in. If you’ve been wanting to go to Cuba – book with Travendly now - you won’t regret it!
The January 2016 trip to Cuba was a blast! The thought of organizing the logistics of a trip to Cuba seemed overwhelming for just myself but Travendly made the process of going incredibly easy. From salsa lessons to visiting a tobacco farm to talking with the locals, there was never a dull moment. Our small group bonded quickly and the fact that we all live in NYC means I can stay in touch with and see the new friends I've made!
I would highly recommend traveling with Travendly for both those who have done group trips before, and those who haven't. My Travendly trip to Cuba was my second group trip, and it far exceeded my expectations. It is truly special to be able to travel with a group of like-minded people from the same city and form strong friendships that you can actually maintain after the trip! Unlike on previous trips, I was able to spend time with and get to know every single person in our small group, and as a result, have much richer memories than I would otherwise. I would highly recommend booking a trip with Travendly--in fact, I've already booked my second one!
Did the 5 day (plus 1) Cuba trip and was absolutely amazing! Between Jon and Matt, they were able to fully prepare us for what to expect in advance, then on the trip with Matt, proceeded show us a truly genuine and unique experience. Staying at the casa in a neighborhood outside of central Havana helped create the real experience, would not have been the same at a bourgeois hotel. The choice in places to see was also perfect, will definitely be doing more tours with Travendly in the future!
Doing the 5 day Costa Rica trip with Travendly turned out to be a very pleasant experience. We were not greeted with perfect conditions in CR with a hurricane brewing to derail plans. But the team more than made up in rearranging activities and making sure everyone got out from the trip more than what they were expecting. Lauren, our tour guide was brimming with energy and excitement throughout & never did it feel that we were doing a typical organized tour and Jon's (he's the founder) commitment and personal involvement (even when he was on a different trip) made all the difference. Travendly totally lived up to its philosophy of connecting friendly people with a passion for traveling & life!
I recently went to Iceland with Travendly and had an awesome time! We had a great group that was just the right amount of people for everyone to get to know each other. We got to do all of the major site-seeing (Blue Lagoon, volcanic ash beach, Golden Circle, the waterfalls and geysers), as well as some unique experiences I wasn't expecting -- including an off-the-beaten path hot spring, a glacier hike, and awesome nightlife.
I've done other group travel before with larger companies, and while Travendly is a much smaller-scale operation, the experience was very similar as far as the activities we got to do. Some other elements -- lodgings, the included meals, transportation -- were better. Because it was a smaller group, the trip was a bit more personalized, and we were able to devote our time to the activities we as a group wanted to go.
Overall an awesome trip, I would definitely recommend to friends!
